P1 - FRI - Fondazione per la Ricerca e l’Innovazione

The Foundation for Research and Innovation is a private non-profit association founded by University of Florence and Province of Florence. FRI promotes and manage R&D and technology transfer projects involving the University of Florence and other research institutions, and facilitate the activation of projects, collaborations and exchange of best practices on technology transfer and job placement with industries, SMEs and local authorities and public administrations, as well as national and international organizations. The Foundation is the leader of the Tuscan Cluster for the Sustainable City called Polis. In the cluster more than 300 companies are involved, research centres and public bodies to promote innovation in cultural heritage, mobility and energy. Specialized personnel, called Technological Agents, are involved in Polis to understand companies’ needs and objectives, to promote the development of research projects between companies and university.

Role in the project

FRI is the Project Coordinator. Moreover it will be the CCP for Toscana region. It will lead several tasks and in particular will be, as the representatives of the Toscana Cluster, the leader of the mentoring activities for the new Clusters.

P9 - UPV - Universidad Politecnica de Valencia

The Polytechnic University of Valencia will be the coordinator of the Regional Valencian Cluster. This university is the biggest public university of the Valencia Community with the highest number of research groups and projects performed in the transport sector, in particular in urban freight logistics area. The Polytechnic University of Valencia is a Spanish university located in Valencia, with a focus on science and technology. It was founded in 1968 as the Higher Polytechnic School of Valencia and became a university in 1971, but some of its schools are more than 100 years old. UPV budget for 2009 was over 420 M€. UPV has a special vocation to perform R&D of interest to the industrial environment, being a strategic technological and R&D partner to companies settled in this region. The Territory and Transport Institute (ITRAT) is the research institute at the UPV, dealing with issues and activities related to mobility, transport, transport infrastructures and its interactions with the territory.

Role in the project

UPV has an important role in the project, as WP leader of WP 4. It will also contribute mainly with a methodological role to several tasks in WP 1, 2, 3, with some responsibility as task leader too

P11 - UCV- Universitatea din Craiova

Faculty of Mechanics, the original structure, and the resulting one through subsequent amendments, was founded in 1977 by the State Council Decree no. 207 / 1977, in the University of Craiova frame. During its existence the college has seen continuous development embodied in the diversification of education offers, development and modernization of equipment, increased number and the quality of teachers, increasing the number of students. Based on a tradition of over 60 years of academic education in the field of commercial vehicles, the education program engineering in traffic and transportation meet the needs of urban traffic and society requires providing a solid base of practical knowledge and to the students.

Role in the project

UCv has a role of task coordination in WP2 for what concern the assessment of the regional specializations and in WP4 about the definition of the economic impact. It will be also involved in WP1.

P12 - IPN - Instituto Pedro Nunes - Associação para a Inovação e Desenvolvimento em Ciência e Tecnologia

Instituto Pedro Nunes is the technology transfer organization from Coimbra University, a non-profit private organization founded in 1991 and the main link between the University and the business sector. IPN’s work is made through RTD in partnership with enterprises, specialized training and promotion and support to tech-based spin-offs. IPN has its own technological infrastructures besides accessing a network of researchers in the scientific and technological system, particularly from the University of Coimbra, mainly through the Faculty of Sciences and Technology IPN have a strong experience in technology transfer processes bridging the gap between invention and innovation, and expect use this knowledge to contribute for Dorothy results exploitation.

Role in the project

IPN ismainly involved in the analysis and integration of research agendas of actors in Regional Clusters (WP 1), the definition of a Joint Action Plan (JAP) for RTD and innovation (WP 3) and the dissemination, thought the one.stop.transport portal

P13 - IPA - SC IPA SA - Societate comerciala pentru cercetare, proiectare si productie de echipamente si instalatii de automatizzare

IPA Craiova established in 1980, based on R&D activity, system integrator, software development. IPA has a network and a data base for dissemination of information with 489 members in Oltenia (SME, NGO, Universities, Research Units, Local Administration) and 480 research and education units of Europe. Communication is electronic. IPA realized incubation of business and technology transfer for important SME units of Oltenia: INDA ELTRAC, VIG, CLTTE, Uranus, DREAM Conf., Automatech, etc. Consulting for SME for promotion of new ideas by national or international financing projects; it found national or international regional partnership (Leonardo, Minerva, ISPA, Life, ACCES, ADR PHARE, bilateral programs).

Role in the project

IPA is WP leader for WP1. And has task responsibility for the definition of possible cooperation among the clusters (WP2) and for the integration of the JAP in the framework of the ragional policies (WP3).

P17 - MET - Metro s.r.l.

METRO srl is an in-house company owned by the Municipality of Lucca. The company acts as a mobility agency for the Municipality. Among its specific tasks there are the design, building and management of integrated car parking lots, including the necessary required technological infrastructures. More recently Metro company has been appointed to the management of the ecological freight distribution toward the city centre of Lucca and outskirts. This specific area of business is branded LuccaPort (www.luccaport.it) and it represents one of the most interesting green city logistics experience in Italy and Europe. The parking lots currently managed hosts up to round 1400 cars. Most of the built lots act as park and ride area for people commuting to the inner town. A relevant number of the on-street parking places (round 2400) are also managed by the company by use of parking meters.

Role in the project

MET will contribute in WP 2 in the definition of the research actions to be developed in the Region and in WP 3 in the definition of the internationalization actions. It will be active in WP 5 in the mentoring and monitoring actions.

P20 - DGT - Dumagas Transport

Dumagas Transport founded in 1996 and has been a pioneer on the transportation market in Romania gaining over 12 years experience. The company’s growth is based on clearly defined and shaped principles and values, as safety, quality, dynamism, flexibility and nevertheless performance. In 2006 it becomes a leader on the road transportation and logistics market as being acknowledged and rewarded by the Ministry of Transport, Constructions and Tourism in Romania with the medal and diploma for The Best Company in Road Transportation of Goods,. Dumagas manages fleet larger than 400 its own heavy trucks and more than 300 trucks owned by the subcontractors within Dumagas network.

Role in the project

DGT will provide its experience in defining the most appropriate local actions for the JAP (WP 2 and 3) and will participate to the set up of the Local Cluster.

Founded in 1999 by a group of professionals of the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, Liberologico is an ICT engineering and development SME with a specific know how in web technologies and mobile applications. Over the years Liberologico has widened his market presence and today it operates mainly in the following areas:

The company presents an high tech profile, providing services and solutions which are in line with the most recent ICT developments . The focus on innovation is obtained with continuous R&D investments and by strict cooperation with prominent research institutions. All products of the company are the results of research and technological innovation projects.

Role in the project

LIB will contribute to the definition of the research agendas (WP1) and the JAP (WP2 and 3) and to the evaluation of economic impact (WP4). It will participate to the mentoring and monitoring activities of WP5.

P24 - PE - Perform Energia L.da

Perform Energia is a consultant company specialising in transport policy and planning, sustainable mobility plans and alternative vehicle and combustion technology planning and management. The promotion of sustainable mobility is one of the main goals of all activities developed. Its small team can assist public authorities at all levels and companies in the private sector in solving a wide range of problems through consultancy, planning, monitoring, benchmarking, concept development, manuals and expert opinions. In recent years, Perform Energia specialized in public transport concepts for middle sized cities and low demand rural areas, creating new mobility solutions (flexible supply, “blue line” concept, new public transport interface methodologies, etc. PE managed a 3 year Demonstration Program Electrical Buses in Urban Public Transport Fleets in 25 Portuguese Cities and 13 special events, including technical, demand and opinion monitoring and dissemination in local, national and international workshops and conferences

Role in the project

PE will be WP leader for WP6 about dissemination. And will contribute to the analysis and integration of research agendas of actors in Regional Clusters (WP1), and to the definition of a Joint Action Plan (JAP) for RTD and innovation (WP3)

P24 - MOV - Movus

MOVUS is a private technological SME company specialised in innovative urban mobility solutions with a relevant experience in sustainable mobility (Bikesharing, Car-pooling, transport on demand) .Movus operates intensively in electromobility, being today the first Spanish company leading the technological development and operation of the electric carsharing system E:sharing, currently operating in Valencia Province (Sagunto city). Furthermore MOVUS is a company providing high-added value consulting services to local municipalities and private enterprises with a recognized experience in the definition of sustainable urban mobility plans (SUMP) and implementation of specific measures defined in the SUMP. MOVUS is strongly oriented to turn-key solutions covering all phases required from system specification, technological development, implementation and final operation of the mobility solution.

Role in the project

MOVUS has an important role in the Project as WP leader of two important work packages, namely WP2, about the technological framework for the definition of the JAP and WP7 about internationalization. It will contribute significantly to many tasks in practically all the Project WPs.
